When Frostburg students were asked whether they check Facebook first or some other website when they first log into the computer, their responses were predictably similar.
Frostburg senior Jamie Wiesner, a Mass Communication major from Pasadena, Md responded immediately with, "Facebook. It is newsworthy as well and it has a news feed."
Rachel DeWoody, a junior and Mass Communication major from Rockville, Md agreed with Ms. Wiesner. "Facebook automatically opens up [when I start my computer]. That is how I keep in touch with the people from back home. And it is a little bit addicting."
Senior Fabion Seaton, a Political Science and Communications major from D.C., had a different response. "Email. That is how I communicate with people."
Whether you get on Facebook or choose another website to visit, it is undeniable that mass communication has become a significant part of our society's lives.
