When asked, "Do you think the media has any effect on our happiness?" three Frostburg State University community members gave very different answers.
Shelley Drees, Administrative Assistant in Dunkle Hall said, "No, I don't think of the media because I'm not famous."
Student Ashton Graham, an Art and Design major and a junior at FSU from Grantsville, Md., said "I think so. If we're always hearing about bad things, it affects our mood. News about and pictures of celebrities affect our body image."
Patty Graham, Administrative Assistant in the Fine Arts building said, "Yeah, I do. For example, my mother and older people in general tend to believe everything they hear without weighing out the pros and cons."
Interestingly enough, the three people asked had different takes on what the question itself meant. Drees thought it had to do with being famous. Ashton Graham answered as if for younger people, such as college students. Patty Graham felt it had more of an effect on the older crowd.
